Caden’s First 10

Sorry, been slacking on the posts-you know how it is after deer season starts right?

First up Caden gets it done with Papa Geno. Dropped him in his tracks with a neck shot. Nice job Caden-Aka “Brother”! Nice to have these young kids enjoying the finer things in life”.

When you NEED more than a shotgun!

Quick turkey hunt last Thursday turns in to Hogzilla encounter. Just happened to take my trusty $100 single shot 243 camp rifle and had it laying on the ground beside me-shotgun in my lap.  I see this monster coming from about 100 yards. I’m thinking if I don’t hit him in the noggin it’s probably gonna piss him off. So, wait until he’s about 40 yards and let him have it. Needless to say he couldn’t take it and dropped like a rock. Biggest one we have taken on our place. Although he was too heavy for us to get back to camp and weigh our best guess is a solid 300lbs. Moral of the story-never leave camp without plenty of firepower!!

Tom’s First Close Encounter

Tom gets his first taste of the real deal. Stepped close enough to make this guy coil and rattle. He now knows he can jump 10 feet up and 10 backwards in one move. Cabela’s sold a good pair of snake proof boots a week after this.

It’s That Time Of Year.

Spring time-gotta love all the critters it brings out. I just don’t like them right by the camper door. This rat eating snake gets a pass though. Kinda like having a big ole tomcat around camp. Turtle pic doesn’t do him justice. He was massive. No telling how old he is.

Not A Bad Season So Far

Two birds-6 beards total. Not too bad of a season so far. The one on the left had 4 and the other had 2. Might add to that if I can get back in the turkey woods before season is over.
